Your "Budget Garden Coup" is made to the highest specifications from quality sourced, local wood, that has been professionally treated.....and as already been said, carefully and professionally constructed by a qualified, experienced, time served, trades man It has of course a "pop in/out" door for your chickens.....and a large fitted roosting perch, which is easily removed, when required for cleaning. The large separate door, makes your coup, easily accessible for cleaning etc. The large external nest box (with fitted lock), makes collecting your fresh eggs daily an absolute joy !! The framework is constructed using strong 2"x2" (approx) pressure treated wood. And the exterior is very high quality, "dressed and finished" shiplap, (tongue & groove) wood. Using highest quality, shiplap finish, does not only lift the overall appearance of your chicken coup, it also adds strength and makes your henhouse, more "predator proof", and certainly protects your hen house from the driving rain The "cuprinol coating", (choice of colour)which we apply, not only preserves the wood, and adds further protection against the worst of weather......it also gives your new henhouse a "wee touch of class". Why would you want your hens to live in cramped conditions ?? Many, many, suppliers of hen houses will make use of this ridiculous legislation of...... 8" per HEN..... to promote their houses, as being built to accommodate high numbers of poultry. Ridiculous numbers that are far in excess of what would be a reasonable and comfortable number. The welfare of your hens is paramount. And space to exist comfortably, is one of our top priories......Even putting aside the welfare reasons for a minute....Well looked after and cared for, comfortably housed hens, will be a "happy, healthy hens"........... that will give you and your family, hours of enjoyment....as well as, plenty of big, fresh, healthy,eggs daily. When buying a henhouse, (whether from us, or someone else), please keep this "floor space issue" in mind. This should be your "number one" priority. Some Suppliers, such as mentioned above, by making use of "minimum space for poultry regulations" (although keeping wihin the letter of the law) are showing a blatant disregard for the customers ( and hens ) .....in their efforts to promote their (usually imported) chicken houses. No animal, or birds should be housed in these restricted conditions. On the basis of what has been said above, regulations would allow us to sell our "Perfect Budget Garden Chicken Coup" as being suitable for up to up to eleven large fowls. We do not advise you to house even half that number recommended by some......... in ANY of our range of local, custom- built, quality henhouses We recommend housing 4 to 5 full size, laying, hens in our "PERFECT. GARDEN CHICKEN COUP" .....And by doing so you will have "Happy, Healthy, Laying Hens"..... enjoying spacious living.
Our Coup is made as a"Standalone" Coup. In other words, it is more than large enough to house comfortably, four to five large hens. With this in mind and to keep the initial cost of the "Budget Coup", and the "Beginners Starting Package", as affordable as possible, it is not supplied with the Separate, External, Feeder Attachment Shelter..
SPACE.......When the weather is bad, your hens will have the freedom of space to live contentedly in their house...But we would expect your flock of laying chickens, to be also given the freedom to wander around you garden.
The house is designed and built to house comfortably four large hens and small drinker and feeder.
